Hallucinations
I said i was going bananas? Well, that was halfway on my road to pineapples (got a pineapple in my backpack, by the way). Now i'm approaching papayas - and don't you worry, there're lots of fruits in Central America, no way i get sane until i'm back!
Yesterday some Maya woodcutter greeted me as i was climbing to the lake and i distinctly heard "Zdorovo!" (something like "Hi!" in Russian). I accepted it - however improbable, things like this happen. Once in Cambodia, in Kratie (god-forgotten hole east of... Of everything), i met a guy who claimed to have studied for 7 years in Irkutsk (an equally god-forgotten hole in Siberia), and was rather fluent in Russian, at least in the part of it regarding sexual life of one's relatives. Anyway, this time it turned out to be a word in Mam, with about the same meaning as "zdorovo" - why don't they just speak Russian then?
But when today, passing some construction site, i saw huge sign reading "Solel boneh" (an Israeli construction company), i... I must admit i've run out of explanations.
Made a raid "off the beaten track". Seriously enlarged my collection of how-the-hell-do-they-survive-with-those-suspension-bridges shots. Some of the butterflies (ever seen a jungle without butterflies?) were bigger than my palm. Tropics. I like tropics.
