Camel caravans in Danakil depression, Ethiopia.

Entire life of an Afar, whether a villager or a nomad, rotates around his camels. Caravans are used not only to transport mineral salt, for which Danakil desert is famous, to the market, but to move anything anywhere - including the precious water in goatskins or jerricans. Even Afar folk songs mostly praise thier camels!
