Those of you who know me personally might be surprised, for it's rather unusual for me to take tuitions - normally i prefer studying (if i feel like studying, which is rather unusual too) myself, with a book - or without one. This time, however, was clearly an exception - being able to say (on the 2nd week of travel!) not only "Do you have FOOD?" but also "What the hell is this gray mud made of?" or even "If you're so sure it's edible, why don't you try it first, and i'll wait for a few minutes" always helps one assimilate, maybe make some local friends...
My teacher was cute, miniature mestiza with probably the strongest psychological armor i've ever seen on anyone except myself. That doesn't mean she was a tank - a feather in the air is way more difficult to destroy with a hammer than a stone on the ground - she was light, often smiling, but perfectly self-confident and self-sufficient.
By the way, when i was just about to enroll, the manager offered me a choice: male/female, old/young teacher. The guy must have read the excitement in my voice as i said: "YOUNG FEMALE, OF COURSE!" and played this dirty joke on me, he-he...
